About Sell My Data Company
A small team that reads investors' and acquirers' own pages for what they say about buying data businesses, and the reviews a sale can set off.
Why it is here
A buyer's own page says what it is looking for now, in words you can hold it to, which a record of its past deals cannot.
Who this helps
Owners and founders of companies whose product is data, from a niche data provider to a data platform, asking who would buy it.
On these pages
A quote form for one question, "sell my data company", that runs right on the page with no sign-up, 4 guides on related questions, a table of figures you are free to cite (see the data and how it was made), and the list of sources behind every number.
- Who buys data businesses? The firms that say so themselves: Who buys data businesses: private equity firms, data platforms' venture arms and data-focused funds, each quoted from its own page.
- Data business for sale: what to settle before you call a buyer: Putting a data business up for sale: the size these buyers name, who owns the data, what your customer contracts allow, and the reviews a sale can trigger.
- Selling a data company to a foreign buyer: US and UK reviews: Selling a data company to a foreign buyer can bring CFIUS, the Justice Department's bulk data rule or the UK's National Security and Investment Act into the deal.
- Data analytics business for sale: which of these buyers fit: A data analytics business for sale fits the buyers here that name software, data and analytics: STG, Tritium and Motive Partners say so in their own words.
What we leave out
- We will not list a firm whose page neither states nor shows data companies.
- We will not tell a buyer about your company without your written go-ahead.
- We will not arrange a sale of shares; a whole-company sale goes to an adviser.
Who stands behind it

No buyer on this register pays to appear or was asked to. Our fee is paid by the company: 12.5% of the deal, with a minimum, when we act as its exclusive agent to license its data, or 10%, with a minimum, when its data joins a bundle; for a sale of the whole company we introduce an adviser, and any fee a buyer pays us is credited to the company.
